DESIGN OF A FRICTION COEFFICIENT MEAUREMENT TEST BENCH FOR A PROPER SYNCHRONISER CONE GEOMETRY

Synchronizer is a key subcomponent of a transmission system that equalizes the speed between related gear and the shaft. Synchronization process is based on friction theory. Synchronization is achieved by friction cones and design of the friction cones are the utmost important topic of a synchronizer, thus transmission design. Obtaining the correct friction coefficient is important for a reliable design. This article is about obtaining the correct friction coefficient of a synchronizer by using a test setup which simulates the geometry and the material of the desired synchronizer
